Shutting Down

I’m shutting down

I just can’t
The words melt
And slip between my fingers

I want to hide
Curl up in a ball
Smothered in darkness

My heart’s desire is weak and failing
I wish that I could revive it
Bring it back

I may be afraid to fail
But I’m also terrified to succeed

Lost in the scribbles and blank pages

So, I shut down
Unplug
Go dark…

tv

Is it gone?
Was that all that I have to give?

I must believe
Find that tiny bit that’s left
Coax it out
Dragging and screaming
‘Cause it’s afraid too

I will tell it
Not to be afraid
Even as my hands shake

I don’t want to go back
I don’t want to go there
Back to the before

So, what do I do?
I keep walking forward
Stepping on my own toes
Out of the sticky mud
That holds me here

Soon, I hope to find myself
On firm ground again

Hi guys,

I don’t really “open up” on my site. My blog is supposed to be a place for you guys to escape to, but lately, I’ve had a really hard time focusing on writing. Pretty much everything I’ve been posting, as far as my writing goes, are things that have been sitting on my computer, which I’ve revised and edited. I’ve had a difficult time working on new stuff.

I need to step back for a bit, so I will be posting on Friday, then taking some time off. I need to take a break from social media and refocus. I know that I took a break not too long ago, and for those who have just signed up to follow me, I apologize. Please feel free to check out some of my previous posts.

Pop back on Friday, when I’ll have some sarcastic and silly stuff from Kristina Kuzmic to end the week on a fun note.

  1. I find that social media interferes with writing and writing interferes with social media. It’s critical to take social media breaks, real ones! Unplugged! Relax, flow, breathe. Good luck to you. 🙂

  2. This is so beautiful, my friend! It takes courage to open up so, well, openly, and I admire that! I especially love the door of hope that’s left open just a crack; of course, that crack is all it takes; the door itself is open. Neat! 😘❣❣
