Feeling Fine Fridays: “Fall In Line” & “Voices”

I’m going to start adding more posts of inspiration like this on Fridays. Called Feeling Fine Fridays, they will range from the funny to the inspiring. I’ve done this type of post before, but would like to share it more often.

So, for today, I’d like you to take a listen to these two songs.

Fall In Line is from powerhouses Christina Aguilera and Demi Lovato. They recently performed it on the Billboard Music Awards.

Voices is from the metal band Motionless in White.

Fall In Line is about a girl’s strength to hold her own, and to not allow herself to be defined by society’s standards. Click here for comments from both Christina and Demi.

Chris tweeted that Voices was influenced by his conversations with those within the LGBTQ community. The pride flag colours are shown throughout the video. You can go to Spotify to hear his full commentary.

Both of these songs share the message of how hard it can be to stay true to yourself, while society hangs over you, telling you who you should be.

In the end, you just have to be who you are.

I know that you guys don’t need to be told about the importance of diversity and acceptance. I just love how different artists from different musical genres, can use their talents to share such important messages.

Below are the songs’ lyrics if you would like to take a look, from www.genius.com.

Fall In Line

[Verse 1: Christina Aguilera]
Little girls, listen closely
‘Cause no one told me
But you deserve to know
That in this world, you are not beholden
You do not owe them
Your body and your soul

[Pre-Chorus: Christina Aguilera]
All the youth in the world will not save you from growing older
And all the truth in a girl is too precious to be stolen from her

[Chorus: Christina Aguilera & Demi Lovato]
It’s just the way it is
And maybe it’s never gonna change
But I got a mind to show my strength
And I got a right to speak my mind
And I’m gonna pay for this
They’re gonna burn me at the stake
But I got a fire in my veins
I wasn’t made to fall in line
No, I wasn’t made to fall in line, no

[Verse 2: Demi Lovato]
Show some skin, make him want you
‘Cause God forbid you
Know your own way home
Ask yourself why it matters
Who it flatters
You’re more than flesh and bones

[Pre-Chorus: Demi Lovato]
All the youth in the world will not save you from growing older
And all the truth in a girl is too precious to be stolen from her

[Chorus: Christina Aguilera & Demi Lovato]
It’s just the way it is
And maybe it’s never gonna change (no)
But I got a mind to show my strength (my strength)
And I got a right to speak my mind (my mind)
And I’m gonna pay for this (pay, pay)
They’re gonna burn me at the stake (stake)
But I got a fire in my veins (veins)
I wasn’t made to fall in line (line)
No, no, I wasn’t made to fall in line
No, we weren’t made to fall in line, oh

[Bridge: Distorted Male Voice]
Yea, two, three
Right — two, three
Shut your mouth
Stick your ass out for me
March — two, three
Two, three
Who told you you’re allowed to think?
Yea, two, three
Right — two, three
Shut your mouth
Stick your ass out for me
March — two, three
Two, three
Who told you you’re allowed to think?

[Chorus: Christina Aguilera & Demi Lovato]
It’s just the way it is
And maybe it’s never gonna change
But I got a mind to show my strength (my strength)
And I got a right to speak my mind (my mind)
And I’m gonna pay for this (I’m gonna pay for this)
They’re gonna burn me at the stake
But I got a fire in my veins
‘Cause I wasn’t made to fall in line
But I got a fire in my veins
I’m never gonna fall in line, oh

[Outro: Distorted Male Voice]
Yea, two, three
Right — two, three
Shut your mouth
Stick your ass out for me
March — two, three
Two, three
Who told you you’re allowed to think?

Yea, two, three
Right — two, three
Shut your mouth
Stick your ass out for me
March — two, three
Two, three
Who told you you’re allowed to think

Voices

Voices, in my head again
Trapped in a war inside my own skin
They’re pulling me under (Go)

I’ve swallowed myself but the fever remains
I’m numb to the pleasure but still feel the pain
If I showed you my soul would you cover your eyes?
If I told you the truth would you dare me to lie?
I keep it all inside because I know the man is everything but kind

Voices in my head again
Baiting me in a war I can’t win
I can hear them now
Trapped in a game inside my own skin
And I don’t know myself anymore
They’re pulling me under
Voices, Voices

As I walk through this valley of shadows and death
I curse not the “wicked”, I praise not the “blessed”
If I told you the truth, you’d beg me to change
If fear were a currency, you’d own the bank

Voices, In my head again
Baiting me in a war I can’t win
I can hear them now
Trapped in a game inside my own skin
And I don’t know myself anymore
They’re pulling me under
Voices

I don’t want to live
So calloused and frozen
Ugly and hopeless
I don’t want to live forever
I just want to live right now
You can’t take me from me
Voices in my head again
Head again

Voices in my head again
Baiting me in a war I can’t win
I can hear them now
Trapped in a game inside my own skin
And I don’t know myself anymore
They’re pulling me under
Voices
(They’re pulling me under)
Voices
They’re pulling me under
Voices, voices

I keep it all inside because I know the man is everything but kind
I keep it all inside because I know the man is everything but kind

  1. Hello ,

I saw your tweet about animals and thought I will check your website. I like it!

I love pets. I have two beautiful thai cats called Tammy(female) and Yommo(male). Yommo is 1 year older than Tommy. He acts like a bigger brother for her. 🙂
I have even created an Instagram account for them ( https://www.instagram.com/tayo_home/ ) and probably soon they will have more followers than me (kinda funny).

I have subscribed to your newsletter. 🙂

Keep up the good work on your blog.

    Regards
